The Women's Meeting

I’m pleased to introduce my novel, The Women’s Meeting. This novel won me the Literary Titan Gold Award and Book of the Month in 2021 for its perfect delivery of original content, meticulous development of unique characters in an organic striking setting, innovative plot supporting a fresh theme, and elegant prose transforming words into a beautifully written novel. A Kirkus review states, “This is thoughtful, hard-hitting stuff, and the plot’s gradual climb to personal resolution for even its most wounded characters feels organic and unforced. A harrowing but ultimately uplifting fictional collection of survivors’ stories from the front lines of domestic violence.”
The Women’s Meeting highlights the emotional and psychological effects of domestic abuse that afflict women and children around the world. It is a character-driven story spinning a psychological mystery with intrigue and suspense. Its powerful tales surrounding violence and abuse evoke the deepest fears of many women and deliver a message that silence kills.
In this book, Angela Morrison’s perfect world is shattered after she discovers that her hero is the boogeyman, witnessing in silence as her father beat her mother to submission. The contempt in his eyes is like that of an angry beast devouring his prey, and his ferocious behavior traumatizes her.
Excerpt:  After that night, my father’s voice frightened me, and his touch pricked my skin like tiny needles. When he smiled at me, his ominous eyes easily revealed his contempt. He became a stranger to me, but so did my mother. Her status as the heroine in my life’s storybook quickly changed to a victim. Her faint voice faded into the background, and her feather-like touch barely caressed my skin. When she smiled at me, her sad eyes easily revealed her anxiety. Fear and misery seeped from her pores like sweat, and I pitied her.
Dr. Angela Morrison settled into her practice as a psychologist specializing in family-marriage therapy in Washington, D.C. She eagerly accepted the position when offered the opportunity to facilitate the women’s meeting at her church. Dr. Morrison meets four women at the meeting — Anita Harrison, Candace Carter, Ernestine Johnson, and Toni Brown. She quickly discovers that each woman possesses characteristics like her mother and is hurled back to her harrowing past. As she guides the women through the pursuit of their truths, she must confront her demons buried deep in the memories of her alter ego, including secrets, lies, abuse, and her father’s murder.
I intentionally wrote this book to shock and inspire readers as they follow each woman’s journey through life, discovering how they ultimately became victims of life’s circumstances and how Dr. Morrison led these women to self-discovery, acknowledging the truth of presence. Eventually, all the women, including Dr. Morrison, confront the horrors of their truths, but as with domestic violence, not all survive their realities.
This story spans about 116,784 words, 412 pages, and carries a tone similar to Waiting to Exhale by Terry McMillian, The Stillwater Girls by Minka Kent, and Where Wild Peaches Grow by Cade Bentley. Readers have found The Women’s Meeting captivating from beginning to end, often unable to set the book aside.
I’m confident that readers of psychological thrillers and mystery novels will be captivated by the character’s stark, horrifying tales, narrated in a voice free of sensationalism and self-pity. The emotionally charged upmarket story is uplifting and entertaining, intriguingly exploring characters and profound themes honestly and unambiguously.
I published my first novel, Graduate Detectives, in 2006 and continue to pursue a career writing novels and short stories that inspire and uplift readers. I have published five books, including Anna, the Princess, and the Pendant; Abigail Henley, A Southern Tragedy (presently signed with an agent); He Beat Past My Skin, Redemption of a Broken Spirit; and one children’s book, Rumpelstiltskin and the Prince. My latest book, The Tydareus Kingdom, Alliance of Nations, is a fantasy novel currently in the production phase of publication.
Thanks very much for your time. Please consider promoting this book to give it the world recognition and success it deserves. I have included the synopsis and manuscript for The Women’s Meeting and look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
